Don't believe everything you think.
Our judgey left mind will stomp on a great idea shouting all the fears, worry, and what ifs you didn't even ask for.
Your left brain isn't trying to be mean to you,
but it's using an ancient system of protection called the reticulating activation system.
It's main job is to notice and record all the bad, icky, and scary stuff to protect you from future bad, icky and scary stuff.
Only...it doesn't know when to quit.
It perceives new situations as dangerous simply because you were
uncomfortable in some past experience during a similar situation.
It acts up and yells a red caution sign,
even through there is no actual danger forthcoming.
Check in
Challenge yourself.
Question your belief.
Are you really in danger, or is it the work of your old system?
The second job of this old system is to help you notice more of what you focus on. This is great if you are a cheerful optimist. Not helpful if you aren't.
If you dwell on the negative, watch news, immerse yourself in horror flicks,
your mind gets trained to become hyper-vigilant to future sneaky dangers.
Your subconscious loves short cuts... Ocean=Sharks. Danger. Avoid.
You'll see danger lurk even when there is nothing to fear.
(I wish I never watched Jaws)
The more you focus on the fear,
the more fear you will notice (manifest and embody).
Post traumatic stress response works the same way.
Your ancient system links the old trauma
to the new situation, even when it's not warranted.
If something bad happened in the woods,
you will fear the woods.
Reevaluate your possition and opinions based on fact,
Not what you think you know, always believed, or thought.
