I’m sucker for a good sales pitch.
Skin tallow cream? Bought it. Tooth whitener? Bought it.
Mineralizing gum? Bought it. Anything that promised a flat stomach? Bought it.
Here’s what I learned. We all chase the easier fix, the promised result. When I examine my purchased, all had to do with stopping father time. It happens at a certain time when all of a sudden, you gaze in the mirror and say, “Oh my gosh! My mother is staring back at me!”
I did that.
I'm grateful, really. Age is a privilege.
But did it have to come with belly fat?
I thank my parents for good genetics. I have a lively, upbeat personality and it's my superpower for feeling young, despite what I see in the mirror.
I've been bothered by jowls, a pudgy middle, and a smattering of wrinkles.
But is it so bad?
My face is the Rosetta stone of my life fraught by hard won lessons.
I’ve earned every line on my face. I wouldn’t trade crow’s feet showing moments of joyful laughter, or the marionette lines from big smiles.
My belly? I’d get rid of this pudge in a minute.
The 11 between my eyes reminds me of moments in deep contemplation. I love to learn.
Do I miss the appearance of young me?
YES.
Would I trade my current wisdom and awareness to have it back?
(I’m hesitating) NO.
The lesson: Embrace who you are. Love those wrinkles, but buy that damn product if it make you feel better.
I'd love your thoughts, comments on how you are navigating this change.

Like you, I've bought many products to mimic the look of youth. I agree that with age comes wisdom, but I wish age didn't come with wrinkles, loose skin, and fat in places I never knew would be fat!
